Q.

My 5 months baby has pooped 6 times in a day, like after every feed. Consistency is more liquid than normal but not watery. 1 week back she had been affected with cold and cough followed by doctor consultation and medicines as per prescription which has been stopped already two days back. Could this be because of the medicines she took? what can be done to decrease the frequency of pooping?

A. Thanks doc.. she has good appetite and no fever or vomiting. She smiles and plays usually as any other day but the frequency of pooping looks more with small amounts.

A. Loose motion most of the time is because of some infection which could be viral or bacterial and in such case it is associated with symptoms like fever along with vomiting and loss of appetite . supportive treatment is very necessary where proper hydration should hgbe maintained by gniving ORS along with that probiotic can be given like enterogermina or econorm in a proper dose . Antibiotics has their role only if it is bacterial infection . for this doctor guidance is necessary .
