Q.

My 5 month old baby boy has suddenly stopped pooping. Earlier he used to poop at least once or twice a day. But now he has not pooped for 5 days. He has lost interest in breastfeeding as well. Earlier he used to drink milk for 15-20 minutes which has now reduced to less than 5 minutes. Kindly suggest what should we do.

A. constipation in small babies is quite commonly seen and is more with babies who are fed with formula milk. Usually constipation of few days is considered as normal in babies below 6 months of age,you can give bonnisan drops 3 times a day to your child will and give frequent feeding, usually medicines or suppositories are avoided in such a case .if baby is having gastric pain you can give collicaid drops.give proper tummy time and burping to avoid gastric trouble. In case of severe constipation of abolkfve one week you can give suppository but only under medical advice.
