POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month2 months agoA. A white patch on a 3-month-old baby’s chest could be due to several reasons like dry skin, post-inflammatory hypopigmentation (after a rash or irritation), or a mild fungal infection such as pityriasis alba or tinea versicolor. Since your baby is very young, it’s important to avoid self-medication.
For safe care at home:
Apply a gentle moisturizer like Cetaphil Baby Lotion, Sebamed Baby Cream, or Aveeno Baby Daily Moisturizing Lotion 2–3 times daily. Keep the skin clean and dry, and avoid using any harsh soaps or talcum powders.
However, if the patch is spreading, raised, flaky, or itchy, or has not improved within a week, it’s best to consult a pediatrician or dermatologist to rule out any infection or other skin condition.
