Q.
My 2 months old baby had a temperature of 99.4F last night as advised by a doctor through the phone,I gave a medicine and in the morning it reduced to 98.6 F.( My elder daughter having cold and cough since 4 days). Should I Consult a doctor?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. this can occurs due to weather changes and temperature variations or simple cold and rarely infection.
kindly give nasal saline drops (nasoclear /nasivion s)every three hourly and since it is a salt water/saline water it does not have any side effects and can be given again and again for nasal blockage and respiratory cough.
it will dissolve mucus in nose and throat.
for fever and pain give paracetamol.
anti-cold medicines at this age have got side effects so can be given only rafter medical consultation.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child and you can also give indirect steam inhalation and if there is no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor

RashmiMom of a 11 yr old girl1 Year agoA. So the other one does not have fever now but yes if the other one like the older one is having cold and cough you should consult your doctor for proper medication as it’s important otherwise your younger one can also catch an infection in no time
