Q.
My 2 month old baby started taking his fingers bor fist in the mouth everytime, even after feeding. I am worried it is because swelling in his gums ir what? OR Is it normal and what is the reason for this?

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children4 years agoA. Thumb sucking in infants is a very normal phenomenon and its called mouthing reflex and nothing to be worried about it just maintain proper hygiene and with time this thing will go .
In the toddlers thumb sucking habit is also seen many a times which could be phycological cause and feeling of insecurity or some stress . Just try to make the child comfortable and divert in some activities also spend good time with the child .
In extreme casxe withdrawal can be tried with some solution available which are bitter like femite lotion . It needs to be applied locally .

Vritika AroraMom of a 5 yr old child4 years agoA. Hi dear mom. Putting hands in mouth is the baby's way of exploring things and body parts and it can also be due to teething. So no need to worry. This is very much normal in babies.
