My 2.9yrs old daughter recently started to the habit of biting fingernails and is also swallowing the same. We tried to stop it by trimming her nails shorter. But still she bites it often. Does swallowing fingernails cause any problem?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy4 years agoA. it can cause trauma on the mucosal membrane which can lead to ulceration and also if the nails are dirty it can lead to gastrointestinal infection
