Q.

my 1month old baby is straining for nearly 30 minutes to 1hr to poop and pass gas in the night, is this something I should be concerned about or is it normal?

A. straining while passing urine and stool is very normal before completion of 6 months of age. sometimes this can continue for onef year of age also. it usually occurs due to the distention of the urinary bladder and rectum of the child. the sensation is new for the child that's why the child is cryingf if you feel that the crying is more than normal you should visit a pediatrician for examination.

A. In a small age this is very normal for the child but if your child is having so much of a problem you can ask your doctor if you can put a soap or glycerin into that area that makes the motion easy for the child
