A. Most of the babies will not eat well at some point of time. This is just a phase. as parents we tend to worry on days when baby is not eating as much as earlier irrespective of how old they are. This is very natural. However we must understand that it's normal for babies to not feel that hungry on some days. Thes reasons could be various.  If baby has not passed motion regularly it can happen. Or another reason could be if there are worms in the stomach. Deworming helps in this case. However this is for slight older children who eat outside food. Or it could just be that baby doesn't feel like eating. Give the baby some time.  Give what the baby likes the most. Also if baby is drinking too much milk he/she will not eat other foods well. Hence you must give milk according to their age. Before you give any syrup to increase appetite you must always consult your pediatrician itself once to see if it's necessary.  Do not give over the counter medicines or supplements to small babies. Most of the time they are not required. if you are saying he is teething then the irritation in the gums may be another reason for him to not eat well. Massaging your baby’s gums when he is teething is a great way of alleviating the pain and irritation.Simply wash your hands thoroughly and wipe them dry. Then use your clean fingers to gently massage the bottom of his gums. Do not apply any pressure nor massage the top of the gums where the tooth would erupt. Only run your fingers gently at the base of the gums and continue doing so all along his gums.
