This is how she will learn to eat independently by first touching, then playing and finally eating the food. Offer colourful foods like gajar halwa, beetroot halwa, etc. on colourful plates. Cut food into different shapes so as to attract the attention of your daughter. Offer her favourites along with the new foods that you want to introduce in her diet. Praise her even if she manages to finish a small part of her meal. Make mealtimes a pleasant family experience. The family should eat together without any distractions like TV, laptop, mobile phone and tablet. This is how your daughter will learn to eat home cooked meals after watching her parents, grandparents and siblings enjoy food. Offer small portions of food and serve more only when she asks. Instead of giving 3 big meals try to give 6 meals and each time, serve food in small amounts. Let her be a part of meal preparations like she can help with setting up the table before mealtimes, choose vegetables to be cooked etc. As kids at this age experience a sense of independence and if you give them options, they should always be healthy. Try to give limited options for example, do you want a aloo parantha or a paneer parantha?
