Diarrhea in babies can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection, teething, a change in diet, or even a reaction to certain foods or medications. Continue breastfeeding or formula feeding as usual to keep your baby hydrated, and offer small, frequent feeds. If your baby shows signs of dehydration (like fewer wet diapers, dry mouth, or sunken eyes), or if the loose motions are very frequent, contain mucus or blood, or are accompanied by fever or vomiting, consult your pediatrician immediately. Keeping your baby clean and comfortable is also important to prevent rashes.
