Please know this first. Your son is not being bad. He is two, and two year olds hit and throw tantrums because they have big feelings and very few words for them.
When he hits, stay calm. Hold his hands gently and say, 'I won't let you hit. Hitting hurts.' Keep your face and voice soft. Then show him what to do instead - 'You are angry. You can stomp your feet, or come hug me.'
Every time you stay calm, he borrows your calm. Every time we shout back, he learns that anger is how we handle things.
And when he is calm later, talk about it in simple words. Not in the middle of the meltdown. Later.
The hitting phase passes when they get more words and learn the calmer ways from you. You are doing better than you think.

Hello good evening !! Toddlers throw tantrums as they can't express their feelings clearly,
emotional imbalance they easily get anxious and throw tantrums.. yelling at them ,telling them not to do makes the kid even more furious.
    Hug or console them ,divert  the kid by a game or act ,dance to calm them .
Slowly explain when the kid is in a normal mood,during bed time as a story ,explain the consequences due to their anger.
 Yes it needs a lot of patience .
