A. If your two-year-old baby is refusing to drink milk, there are several strategies you can try:
1. **Offer Different Temperatures:** Some children prefer milk at room temperature, while others prefer it cold or warmed slightly. Experiment with different temperatures to see if your child has a preference.
2. **Try Different Types of Milk:** If your child doesn't like cow's milk, consider offering alternatives such as soy milk, almond milk, or oat milk. Be sure to choose fortified varieties to ensure they receive essential nutrients.
3. **Mix with Other Foods:** You can try mixing small amounts of milk into other foods your child enjoys, such as oatmeal, smoothies, or mashed potatoes, to increase their milk intake indirectly.
4. **Serve in Fun Cups:** Sometimes, serving milk in a fun or colorful cup with a straw or a special character can make it more appealing to young children.
5. **Offer Variety:** If your child doesn't like plain milk, try offering flavored milk or adding a small amount of chocolate or strawberry syrup to make it more appealing.
6. **Be Patient and Persistent:** It's common for toddlers to go through phases of food refusal, including milk. Continue offering milk at meal and snack times, but avoid forcing or pressuring your child to drink it. Instead, offer milk as part of a balanced diet and trust that your child will eventually accept it.
If your child continues to refuse milk and you're concerned about their calcium and vitamin D intake, speak with your pediatrician or a registered dietitian for personalized advice and recommendations.
