Is it mandatory that solid should only be started when baby can sit?

A. It’s important that you start giving solid to the child after completing the age of six months basically the consistency semi solid to solid with passing time but nothing should be given prior to that other than milk and there is no thing which says it’s mandatory to give food only once the child sits I’ve never heard of it and it’s absolutely not true
