A. If a baby has loose motions, the first step is to keep the baby well-hydrated with frequent breastfeeding or formula. For babies over 6 months, give ORS (oral rehydration solution) in small, frequent sips. Medicines like zinc syrup (as advised by a doctor) can help reduce the duration of diarrhea. Avoid giving over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medicines without medical advice. If the baby has signs of dehydration, blood in stool, high fever, or diarrhea lasting more than 2–3 days, consult a pediatrician immediately for proper treatment.
