Q.

I have asked this earlier too, asking again as I have got different responses. Is it advisable to use a negligible amount of salt in baby food? My baby's pediatrician said we can add a very tiny amount so that taste buds develop. However, I have had others say its not good for kidneys. Lately, we started giving mashed rice and a very tiny amount of salt is added to her food. Should we discontinue salt??

A. yes definitely you can give very small amount of salt after 6 months to the child Weaning food can be started from 5-6 months of age and in that initially in the stage 1 you can introduce some semi solid food to the baby like Banana mango plum boiled Apple and then gradually you can start with some Puri of carrot potato other foods which can be given are porridge of suji e sabudana can be prepared in breast milk or formula milk. initially you can start with one or two tsp which can be gradually increased up till at least three meals in a day
