Q.

I got my son vaccinated with 10wk vaccination on 13May. Fever was coming every 4-6hrs till 15May. Thereafter, fever came after 13hrs on 16May. Does fever last so long after these vaccination? Shouldn’t it get over on 3rd day? My son also has swollen abscess at his BCG vaccination site. Can this fever be because of abscess? Do I need to worry?

A. Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children. But if fever is high grade and persisting or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out . Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen or mefenamic acid are usually given to reduce fever . Cold sponging with lukehwarm water is also helpful . Doctor consultation should be doune if symptoms like excessive irritability dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .

A. Hello dear parent! Fever post vaccination is normal reaction for a couple of days. Try giving a light cold compress on the paining or vaccinated area. Continue to exclusively breastfeed your baby well on demand. Regularly massage your baby with Babyhug cold pressed coconut oil.
