Q.

I am 26 weeks pregnant and my 24th month scan shows my placenta is low lying with grade I. Since the low lying placenta was detected from my 12th month scan dr has suggested a complete bed rest for me. I am here for second opinion as I afraid that I will have a c section if I take bed rest like this till my placenta moves upward. What should I do?

A. Hi. I understand your concern regarding c-section, but as your placenta is low lining you will have to take bed rest till the time it shifts to proper position. Don't be afraid of resting, it's actually good for you and the baby. my placenta position was also low initially, I was in bed rest for my complete pregnancy. I used to travel only for scans and doctor appointments. I had a normal delivery. So the more u rest, the better are the chances of normal delivery and don't be afraid of c-section delivery. I will recommend you to follow your doctor's instructions.

A. grade I low lying placenta generally seems fine but proper rest and other precautions in the daily activities are required.also stay in touch with your obstetrician regularly in case of any discomfort especially when heading towards the tried trimester.
