POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 6 m old boy12 months agoA. Cleaning a newborn's nose is important for keeping their airways clear. Here’s how you can safely do it for your 32-day-old baby:
1. Gather Your Supplies:
Saline nasal drops (available at pharmacies)
A bulb syringe or nasal aspirator (optional)
Soft tissues or cotton balls
A clean towel
2. Using Saline Drops:
Position Your Baby: Lay your baby on their back on a flat surface, like a changing table or a crib.
Apply Saline Drops: Put 1-2 drops of saline solution in each nostril. This helps to moisten and loosen any mucus.
Wait a Moment: Allow a minute for the saline to work.
3. Suctioning Mucus (if needed):
If your baby has a lot of mucus, you can use a bulb syringe:
Squeeze the Bulb: Squeeze the bulb to remove the air before placing it in your baby's nostril.
Gently Insert: Insert the tip gently into one nostril (not too far).
Release the Bulb: Slowly release the bulb to suction out mucus.
Remove and Clean: Take it out, and clean the tip with a tissue. Repeat on the other nostril if necessary.
4. Wiping the Nose:
Use a soft tissue or a damp cotton ball to wipe away any mucus from the outside of the nose.
5. Comforting Your Baby:
After cleaning, comfort your baby with gentle rocking or holding to help them settle down.
Tips:
Do this as needed: You don’t have to do this daily unless your baby has a cold or congestion.
Be gentle: Newborns have sensitive skin, so avoid using anything rough or inserting objects deep into their nostrils.
If you notice any signs of irritation or if your baby seems to have persistent congestion or difficulty breathing, consult your pediatrician for further advice.
