POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. A clicking or popping sound in a 5-month-old baby's shoulder or leg joints is usually normal. Babies have loose joints and soft cartilage, which can make these sounds as their bones and muscles develop. This happens because:
✔ Growth & Development – Baby's bones and joints are still forming, and ligaments are loose.
✔ Synovial Fluid Movement – Fluid moving within the joints can cause harmless popping sounds.
✔ Lack of Muscle Strength – Weak muscles in babies lead to more joint movement.
When to Worry?
If you notice:
❌ Swelling, redness, or pain in the joints.
❌ Baby cries when the joint moves.
❌ Limited movement or stiffness.
❌ One side is more affected than the other.
If any of these signs appear, consult a pediatrician to rule out conditions like hip dysplasia or other joint issues. Otherwise, occasional joint sounds are normal and improve as your baby grows.
