Q.

hii I have thyroid. my daughter is 2 and a half months old. Is there any chance that she will be having thyroid too??

A. some chance. you have to do a few more tests and a scan after a local doctor advice for proper treatmentIn such cases you can talk to a doctor and get some blood tests done to reach to a conclusion

A. maternal hypothyroidism especially if poorly controlled can cause neonatal hypothyroidism as in initial few weeks of birth the baby cannot metabolize their own hormone and is dependent on mother. most of the hospitals do a routine check up on day 3 of life for tsh levels in baby particularly if mother has positive history. i am sure ur child would have been tested too. discuss with ur paedtrician if any further tests needed

A. Thyroid is not contagious. But yes if your family history has it then there could be 1% chance. Otherwise there is no chance of your child having thyroid because you can be scared about something which is contagious. But this is not contagious. So don’t worry about it.
