Q.

hi...there are two babies in our house.. one is 9 months old and other is 4 months old...9 months old baby got fever 103 .. 5 days back...very high temperature,he is crying a lot.. so doctor gave antibiotic.. he said it may be viral.. check if it doesn't subside after 3 days.. 3 days later.. 4 months baby got fever .. initially 99.8 .. i didn't give any paracetamol.. later since afternoon till evening the temperature is 101.4 .. even after paracetamol given, fever is not subsiding.. immediately went to doctor... he gave antibiotic.. so today morning it was 100... it's been 7 hours.. the temperature didn't cross 100.. my doubt is why did he gave antibiotic.. she is very small baby.. and breastfeeding.. shall I stop antibiotic.. ??

A. hello once you stop the antibiotic the dosage should not be stop in between and it will have an advers affect so better to give it for 3 days or 5 days as advised by your doctor which would be better and also since the paracetamol was not being helpful that's the reason the doctor might given the antibiotics
