Q.

Hi Sir/Madam, My baby detected beta thalassemia major. What should I do now for his treatment. please suggest. what food he need to avoid and what food are good for him. Me and my wife very much upset.please suggest.

A. dear parent Thalassemia major is a genetic disorder . patients have to receive regular blood transfusions intake of iron from food are required to be reduced you should consult registered clinical nutritionist and doctor and take proper guidance Vitamin B12 and folic acid are essential Vegetarian diet will be better as iron content is low. however high sources of iron from vegetarian sources like green leafy vegetables nuts and dry fruits , iron fortified food has to be avoided vitc and protein foods are required
