Q.

hi , my tsh level was 4 when I wasn't pregnant but as soon as after my pregnancy test were done in that my tsh level was 5.4 in first trimester my gynae started thyronorm 25 mg .I am having it from last three months but now at the end of second trimester tsh level is 6.5.i have heard and read too about the serious effects on baby due to increased tsh level .what should I do now .

A. Hello dear Don’t worry. As the pregnancy progresses the tsh levels do keep changing and increasing the thyroxine dosage will be sufficient and as the increasing value isn’t much it won’t have much of an effect on the baby, Endocrinologists prefer a value of 5.5 as upper limit
