Q.

Hi, my pediatrician has suggested to start a complimentary feed (rice water) for my 5 month old. but everyone says nothing but breastfeeding till 6 months. is 5 months too early to start?

A. Weaning food can be started from 5-6 months of age and in that initially in the initial stage you can introduce some semi solid food to the baby like Banana mango plum boiled Apple and then gradually you can start with some purie of carrot potato and some other foods which can be given are porridge of suji sabudana which can be prepared in breast milk or formula milk. initially you can start with one or two tsp which can be gradually increased up till at least three meals in a day v

A. Don’t know why your doctor has given you the suggestion it is not correct and the others were telling you is right that food can only be started after completing the age of six months if you are alone into your breastfeeding you can switch to formula feed but no food should be given please take care of that
