Q.

hi , my daughter is 4.5 yrs old, she is having cold and cough from last 16 days. from last two days,,, she is having fever. After consultation, doctor prescribed azicap suspension, Allegra, viscodyn. I Just want to ask a simple question...why doctor's are giving antibiotic for viral infection. is it ok and safe to take antibiotics for viral fever

A. you cannot give antibiotics without medical consultation. also if it's viral infection or an allergy then there is no role of antibiotics. all infection and illness doe not require antibiotics. also dosage is given as per infection and type of disease. meet your dr for proper advice. in viral infection antibodies are generated by the body and in bacterial infection antibiotics are needed

A. Fever and the symptoms could last more than 14 days in a bacterial infection, while viral fever usually subsides within two weeks. Fever gets worse after a few days into the bacterial infection rather than improving, as in the case of viral fever. Fever is usually higher in bacterial fever compared to viral fever.
