Hi, my baby is turning 6 months old in few days. What foods (solids or smashed) are the best to start with? Also how often should we feed the baby with the newly introduced food and milk?

A. Dear mum, the best foods to start with would be soft and mashed foods like porridge, kheer, homemade cerelac, fruit purée. Then dal rice with vegetables, khichadi, curd. Later mashed paneer. Add ghee to every meal and squeeze lemon wherever possible. Give top food 2 to 3 times a day, beginning with few teaspoons and up to half katori every time. Continue to breastfeed baby.
