Q.

hi, my baby is 6 months old, we have started giving solids for her from a month, it includes ragi porridge in the morning and rice porridge in the evening, from the time we started solids, she is passing very hard clay like stools, how to help her pass normal poop?

A. whenever you introduce food for the child and it is causing constipation you have to stop that particular food which is causing such problems and try to give food which is more rich in fibre and has got plenty of fluids. it is important to add papaya in the diet which will help in decreasing this problem and also at the same time see that you are not giving any new oudtside milk which is again known to cause constipationr Medicine is to be given only if constructed by the doctor after examination. if needed the doctor will give polyethylene glycol which is the first line of medicine for constipation

A. Hello dear parent! Give sips of water in between meals. Give mashed bananas and apple purée. Continue with breastfeeding. Keep Babyhug tummy roll on handy. Consult your child’s doctor for evaluation and advice. Good luck and take care
