Q.

Hi My baby boy is 2 years old. He is having fever for past two days. I am giving 1.5 ml sumol drops. is it correct?? how much ml should I give him??

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogenys released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dgose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. You should give 2ML or more than 2.5 ML depending upon the current weight of your child have to decide the dosage one. 5ML would be little less as per the current age of your child check as per the weight and age of your child
