My son is almost 16 months old. He hasn't started walking independently still although he walks, sits and stands comfortably holding support like chairs and table.
He also seems to be late bloomer when it comes talking. He says amma, thaatha, akka etc...but I am not sure he is associating these words with actual people. But he makes all sounds like pa, ma, ga, ba, gya, pya and is constantly babbling.
Apart from these, he seems to be hitting his other milestones. He follows simple instructions like sit, stand, give me a hug, give me a kiss etc...
Is he doing ok with development ? I am getting worried especially with his walking and talking. My pediatrician says he is doing fine...but I am getting more and more nervous as time passes. Plz advice.
Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy3 years agoA. proper language / speech development will start between 18 months of age to 2 years of age.
there is no need to worry before that just concentrate on the diet and regular interaction with the child.
also speech and language develops properly with more people available to interact with the child
avoid usage of tv mobile and laptop because they are the moost common reasons for delayed speech and language development.
the most important thing is that before speech understanding of the commands given by the parents should be present.
by 18 months if the child is not following basic commands then only you have to meet the doctor
