Q.

Hi dr, I am a mother of 4 month old baby girl. She is both breast fed and bottle fed because of low breastmilk supply.I am feeding her through 0 to 3 months slow flow nipple. My question is that, should I skip into 4 months + nipple, ie, medium flow nipple. Is it necessary to upgrade the nipple. Will it cause any impact?

A. Breastfeeding is always a very important factor for the baby and mother and many times there are some problem faced by mother because of either wrong position while feeding lack of proper diet stress related factors. A proper is counselling is required which can be done by a lactational counsellor along with a proper diet with plenty of liquids some supplfyements may be helpful like shatavari . Also try to avoid giving top milk in initial stage specially with bottle feeding which may be the culprit for lacttational failure most of the time .

A. It is no compulsion like that if your child is taking proper feeding proper amount of milk with the nipple size that you are using right now then there is no problem when you change the bottle totally now when you buy a new bottle then you can go for a medium size nipple but otherwise if the child is comfortable with this one continue with the same
