Q.

Hi doctor, my son was given BCG again at 7 months, as the one given at birth didn't create any scar. It's been two months already, Still the vaccine spot is oozing with pus. Is it common. When will the scar be formed?

A. There is nothing to be surprised @ Rashmi Guptha ji. I have consulted at least half a dozen pediatricians explaining about his BCG scar and all of them suggested that we can go for another if it didn't come upto 7 months And if one has not seen any BCG mark till 50 days after birth, please contact your pediatrician . Because that is sign,in most of the cases that the vaccine has not worked properly . People often listen to other people more and consider it ok. But it is always safe to listen from the doctor.
