And also you need to feed your baby Only on demand and not To force for every 2 hour feed
UMA SHASTRIMom of 2 children2 years agoA. Hi!! You should ideally feed your baby every 2-3 hours or even within 2 hours if baby demands more and is exclusively breastfed. Ideal feeding time should be 10-15 minutes or even 20 minutes as breast milk contains foremilk that comes initially when baby starts sucking and after sometime especially at the end of a feed transitions into hindmilk (fattier part of milk) that helps in the weight gain, hence to nurse as much as from one side to get the hind milk more. And then to switch side especially if baby itself detaches from the breast by itself. This will help her gain weight. My baby when she was 20 day old had not gained much weight so I started expressing my milk after every feed and drained the breast fully to stimulate more milk production.
Also babies will fall asleep within minutes of feeding as they tend to get tired with sucking in between feeds. So you need to keep them awake for making sure she is drinking well and draining breast fully to drink the fattier part of milk(hind milk) - main part of milk for weight gain.
If she only drinks foremilk (the less fattier and watery part of milk) that usually starts when a baby starts feeding then she will sleep and wake up immediately as her stomach is not full. Make sure to feed her for atleast 20 minutes from one side and 10 minutes from other. I faced the same issue but this method helped her gain weight very fast.

There could be to think it is not necessary the child is falling asleep which is why your child is not giving me a lot of times the feeling that you are giving me not be sufficient for the child so you can ask your doctor if you need to go ahead with formula feeding as well
