Q.

Hi, Am giving normal milk at night for my baby. Because of winter, I am storing warm milk in a flask. I am heating milk at 11pm and storing it in a flask after it gets warm. My baby wakes 3 times for milk till 6am after feeding at 11 or 12 pm also. But early in the morning around 4 or 5am some smell is coming when I open the flask. Is the milk spoiled ? am worried? please suggest alternative

A. To store milk for your child for night use, follow these steps: 1. **Express Milk:** If you're breastfeeding, express the milk using a breast pump. 2. **Use Sterilized Containers:** Choose clean, sterilized containers to store the milk. You can use glass or BPA-free plastic bottles. 3. **Store in Small Portions:** Divide the milk into smaller portions to avoid wastage. Aim for amounts your child typically consumes in one feeding. 4. **Label and Date:** Label each container with the date of expression to ensure freshness and prioritize the oldest milk first. 5. **Refrigerate Quickly:** Place the containers in the refrigerator promptly after expressing the milk. 6. **Cooling Bag (Optional):** If you need to transport the milk, use a cooling bag with ice packs to maintain the temperature. 7. **Reheat Safely:** Warm the milk by placing the container in warm water; avoid using a microwave. Test the temperature before feeding. Always follow recommended guidelines for storing and using breast milk, and consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
