Q.

hi all my baby girl born preterm baby with weight 1400 grams. she born at 30 weeks . so direct mother feeding is tough for me. feeding now using a nipple shield. which week she started direct feeding or how to start direct feeding for her. how to take care of her . please all preterm moms kindly give me a suggestions

A. Babies do not normally learn to co-ordinate the sucking, swallowing and breathing needed for feeding until about 34 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. If your baby is born before this time, they may need to have breast milk through a feeding tube to begin with. This goes through their nose or mouth into their stomach.
