A. This may due to either allergy or infection and some times due to climate changes and temperature variations .
For cold you can give syp allegra 2.5 ml twice daily to the child.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child and give nasal saline drops frequently for nasal blockage, simple cough and cold. Indirect steam is helpful.
Home remedies like Tulsi Ginger diluted with water combination (honey cdan be added after 1 year age)and turmeric with milk at least 2 times per day.
Give warm water to drink
If no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor
paracetamol for fever and pain.

A. For an 8-month-old baby with a cough and light fever, here are some steps you can take to help her feel better:
### 1. **Monitor the Fever**
- **Check the Temperature**: Use a digital thermometer to check your baby’s temperature. For an 8-month-old, a fever is typically considered to be 100.4°F (38°C) or higher.
- **Hydration**: Ensure your baby stays hydrated by offering breast milk, formula, or water (if your pediatrician has advised introducing water). Proper hydration is crucial when your baby has a fever.
- **Dress Lightly**: Dress your baby in light clothing and keep the room at a comfortable temperature to help reduce the fever.
### 2. **Soothe the Cough**
- **Steam Inhalation**: Sitting in a steamy bathroom for a few minutes can help loosen mucus and soothe the cough. However, ensure your baby is not exposed to hot steam directly.
- **Nasal Saline Drops**: If your baby has a stuffy nose, saline drops can help clear nasal passages. After applying the drops, use a bulb syringe to gently suction out the mucus if necessary.
- **Elevate the Head**: Slightly elevate your baby’s head while she sleeps by placing a rolled-up towel under the crib mattress (not directly under her head). This can help reduce coughing during sleep.
### 3. **Medications**
- **Fever Reducer**: If the fever is making your baby uncomfortable, you can give her infant acetaminophen or ibuprofen (if advised by your pediatrician) in the correct dosage for her age and weight.
- **Avoid Cough Medicines**: Over-the-counter cough and cold medicines are not recommended for children under 2 years old without a doctor’s guidance.
### 4. **Comfort and Rest**
- **Extra Cuddles**: Offer plenty of comfort and rest. Sometimes, holding your baby in an upright position can help with breathing and reduce coughing.
- **Fluid Intake**: Continue to offer frequent feedings of breast milk or formula. Fluids can help thin mucus and keep your baby hydrated.
### 5. **When to See a Doctor**
- **High Fever**: If your baby’s fever reaches 102°F (38.9°C) or higher, or persists for more than 2-3 days, consult a doctor.
- **Difficulty Breathing**: If your baby has trouble breathing, rapid breathing, or wheezing, seek medical attention immediately.
- **Persistent Symptoms**: If the cough worsens or if other symptoms like irritability, lethargy, or refusal to eat or drink develop, contact your pediatrician.
- **Ear Tugging**: If your baby is tugging at her ears, it could indicate an ear infection, which would require medical evaluation.
Given her young age, it’s important to monitor her symptoms closely and consult with your pediatrician if you have any concerns or if her condition doesn’t improve within a couple of days.
