Q.

Hello, My son is 1 year 1 month old. His birth weight was 2.75 kg and current weight is 7.5 Kg. He is taking solid food since last 4-5 months now. Since birth he has been 100% on breastfeeding. His weight is not increasing since last 2-3 months. He does not take buffalo or Cow milk at all. What shall we do to increase his weight? Can we add any supplement like Bournvita in his milk?

A. dear parent, do not give any supplements. give a homemade balanced diet having variety of food groups. for good weight and health child should be having a balanced diet having all the food groups now you should be giving all the foods that you prepare in your house. Give top food 4 to 5 times a day and up to one katori every time. Also give one healthy snack in between. Give nuts like almond, dry fruits. All seasonal fruits and vegetables even green leafy vegetables. Proteins like eggs, beans, pulses, milk and milk products, chicken. At least 500 ml of milk and milk products like curd, paneer, cheese. Avoid fruit juice and instead give the whole fruit. avoid intake of junk and packet foods
