Q.

hello,i have flat nipples and unable to feed by baby through breastfeeding.please suggest what could be done to elongate nipples in order to feed the baby

A. Dear mum, you may require to use a breast pump to draw out the nipple before nursing and you may pull back on the breast tissue while your baby is latching thus will help the nipple to protrude. lactational consultant may also recommend other techniques. also if baby latches on correctly then inverted nipple is not a problem because baby should latch at the breast and not at the nipple. take care that maximum areola is in mouth of child, lower lip is curled out and chin touches breast .
