Q.

Hello Dr.. recently for my son (6 years old) stomach was scanned. in that it was mentioned few enlarged mesenteric nodes noted largest measuring 11*7 mm in right illiac fossa. is this a serious concern???. this was taken two weeks before but now he doesn't complain about stomach ache... do I need to take scanning of stomach again?? how does this come??? he doesn't have junk food at all.kindly advice

A. Mesenteric adenitis is not normally dangerous, but having swollen lymph nodes for a long time can be a sign of something more serious. If the glands are swollen due to a severe bacterial infection, and it is not treated, it can spread to the bloodstream, and this can lead to sepsis.
