Q.

hello dr..my baby is about 6 weeks old.i breast feed my baby 1 breast and from another I pump out the milk and feed to him because he does not drink milk properly and goes on to sleep while feeding. so I have doubt If I pump out the milk n feed..the. milk production will increase or decrease. pls suggest...I fear of losing milk due to electric pumping of the milk and if there are any long term side effects of using breast pump

A. Breastfeeding is always a very important factor for the baby and mother and many times there are some problem faced by mother because of either wrong position while feeding lack of proper diet stress related factors. A proper is counselling is required which can be done by a lactational counsellor along witrth a proper diet with plenty of liquids some supplements may be helpful like shatavari . Also try to avoid giving top milk in initial stage specially with bottle feeding which may be the culprtit for lactational failure most of the time .

A. hi well, it depends on how you pump incorrect pumping can cause low milk supply so please ensure that you are doing this right way. I would suggest to use Babyhug breastpump which is safe and easy to use.
