hello doctor,... please help. my daughter is 11.5 months old... our old paed suggested iron syrup 5ml(each 5ml containing 35 mg of iron) one time daily.... later another paed suggested tonoferon syrup 1ml twice a day( each 1 ml containing 25 mg of iron).... By mistake I happened to continue giving 5 ml once of tonoferon to my baby for 3 days.... Later I got to know my mistake of high dosage somehow... Now I am tensed as I read about high dosage iron poisoning.... please help doctor.... My baby had blackish stools for those 3 days... Now I have stopped giving iron... please help

ExpertDr Disha PatelAyurvedic Physician2 years agoA. no worries, its ok if it is given fir 3 days only.. and black stool is also common after starting iron drops. and be careful n guve any meds or supplements in advice dose only

Author of questionMom of a 3 yr old girl2 years agoA. thank you doctor.... I read about stages of iron poisoning... it is said to have 4 stages lasting till 3-4 weeks... as a mother.... I am feeling very anxious.... Do I need to worry about these stages of iron poisoning?
