Hello Doctor, My wife (mother of 2months old baby) having cold and sneezing. From last night our baby also started sneezing with little cold and coughing. Nearby doctor advised to give Alex drops and Asthakind-p drops. Is this fine or we need to do any other medications? pls advice.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children4 years agoA. Cold is most of the time because of viral illness and if the child is having recurrent running nose and nasal congestion it may be a part of allergic rhinitis also so it needs a proper examination.
steam inhalation will be beneficial in both the cases along wixth decongestant medicine like alex cold/ hatric 3/ sinarest.. t.
As a part of viral illness there could be associated symptoms like cough and fever which needs treatment accordingly along with a proper hydration needs to be maintained .

Saline solution is the only safe nasal spray for babies, infants, and toddlers. To use saline solution, lay the baby down on their back and, if possible, slightly tilt their head back (don't force it, though). Then spray two to three drops of saline spray into each nostril.
