Q.

Hello Doctor, My niece is six month and 13 days old.She hasn't roll over yet but she tries to sit directly instead. She used to get up to a sitting position whenever she is on bed.Today, she sat by herself without support. Is it normal for a baby to situp directly by skipping roll over stage?? She is not able to roll over completly but she do it partially to sides. Can i encourage her to do sitting directly?

A. a baby will start Sitting with support by 6 months of age and by 7 to 8 months baby will sit without support than by 9 months usually baby crawls and in 10 months baby will stand with support. After 12 to 15 months baby will start Walking independently and sometimes it may take even longer but in no case any Walker should be avoid xed as it can cause recurrent fall injury and delay in the walking because the child lacks confidence of walking independently.
