A. If your 14-month-old baby got hurt in the eye with a spoon, observe her closely for any of these warning signs: When to Seek Medical Help Immediately: 🚨 Excessive crying or discomfort that doesn’t settle. 🚨 Redness, swelling, or bruising around the eye. 🚨 Tears or watery discharge from the eye. 🚨 Squinting, light sensitivity, or difficulty opening the eye. 🚨 Blood in the eye or vision changes (if she seems unable to focus). What You Can Do at Home: ✅ Check the eye – Look for any visible scratches, redness, or swelling. ✅ Rinse with clean water – If she allows, gently splash sterile water or saline solution in the eye. ✅ Cold compress – Apply a soft, cool cloth on the area (not directly on the eye) to reduce swelling. ✅ Avoid rubbing – Keep her hands away to prevent further irritation. If the injury seems minor, the eye may heal on its own. But if there’s persistent redness, swelling, or vision issues, consult an eye doctor immediately to rule out any internal damage.
