hello Doctor my daughter is 3year 10 month old last three months, every month she is getting fever , last month she had cough cold fever, I gave her twice in July and in aug antibiotics for 7 days, is it because of weather or joining school or usually child get sick oftenly. I m very tensed. she is in fever only again yesterday she ate her food without washing her dirty hands, is it because of it... please help me out.

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .other medicine like mefenamic acid ibuprofen can also be given . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decregase fever. Adequafte fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
