A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type oxf cough its prescribed. if any fever is theref paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .

A. hi dear Can I give my infant or child cold or cough medicine? The short answer is probably not. The FDA says that over-the-counter cold medications should not be used in children younger than age 2. The American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend any over-the-counter cold medications for children younger than age 4.
