Hello Doctor My 1 month old baby had VP shunt surgery for hydrocephalus. Can you pls let me know the precautions to take care for his future health to be normal.

yes ,necessary care is required for faster recovery and for that here i suggest some points that can help you :
1. take care of incision .
wash the incision areas daily with warm water.
2. dont shower or give head bath until the stitches and staples have been taken out.
the wound should not soak in water until the skin is completely healed.
3.avoid frequent touching
4. Be careful and if there is any sign like pain ,swelling ,redness , pus ,fever ,excess crying , stiff neck ,irritablity , trouble in breathing and feeding etc please visit your treating doctor immediately.
