Q.

hello and good morning Doctor. My 4 month old is profusely sucking on to his fingers even with full tummy. could this be a early sign of teething. if so can you plz suggest how can I check the gum to know he is teething . what changes or signs to look for. thank you

A. hello mam yes it can be a sign of teeth coming process just check the lower jaw gums if you can find any hard swelling and also start massaging the gums with clean cotton cloth

A. sucking fingers or hands is a one of a milestone that can be considered at this age yes it may be an early sign of teething but you cannot help in this case you can just simply keep an eye and while your child starts sucking just ended him with some playing the so that he do not keep his hand in mouth as this can be one of the reason of infection always do have a check that hands are cleaned or whatever objects you are making him to handle are well sanitized
