A. Hello mommy, If behavior therapy has been tried (usually in an 8- to 12-week program) and found not to work, then the doctor can consider putting a 4-year-old on ADHD medication, which the guidelines say is also effective and safe for children in this age group. Many children ultimately end up with both therapy and medicine.
