A. If your 7-month-old baby is feeling uncomfortable, not opening his mouth, refusing to drink milk from both bottle and breast, and is continuously crying, it could be due to several possible reasons: Possible Causes: Teething Pain – At 7 months, teething is common and can cause sore gums, making it painful to suck or drink. Oral Infection or Thrush – A white coating or redness inside the mouth could make feeding painful. Ear Infection – Ear pain often worsens when lying down or sucking, leading to feeding refusal. Sore Throat or Cold – If your baby has a sore throat, congestion, or fever, it may affect feeding. Stomach Discomfort or Gas – Abdominal pain can also cause irritability and feeding refusal. What You Can Do: Check his mouth for swelling, white patches, or redness. Gently massage the gums if teething is suspected, and offer a cold teether. Try feeding in an upright position and offer small amounts more frequently. Burp the baby well after feeds and try tummy massages for gas relief. Monitor for fever, vomiting, or reduced urine output, and seek medical help urgently if these are present. Since he is continuously crying and refusing feeds, it’s important to consult a pediatrician as soon as possible to identify the exact cause and begin treatment. Babies can get dehydrated quickly at this age, so timely care is important.
