good morning mam /sir I am 12 months baby mother recently I diagnosed with type 2 diabetes can I continue brest feed to my baby is it any problem I was on tab metformin 500 mg bd pls suggest me what should I do??

A. It's absolutely ok to breastfeed with diabetes provided you continue your medication. Very small amount of metformin passes through breastmilk and does not affect the child neither does it impact mother's supply. Take carw

A. Even if you have diabetes, you can and should plan to breastfeed for at least six months. Breastfed babies have lower risk of developing type 1 diabetes and becoming overweight or obese later in life, which is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.
